Types of Hearing Loss

Learn about conductive, sensori neural, and mixed hearing loss and their common causes.

Conductive Hearing Loss

Caused by problems in the outer or middle ear that block sound from reaching the inner ear. Common causes include ear infections, fluid buildup, earwax blockage, and abnormalities in the ear's structure.

Sensori Neural Hearing Loss

This is the most common kind of hearing loss and affects most after the age of 65 years. This is the result of damage to the inner ear (cochlea) or the auditory nerve pathways. This type of hearing loss is often permanent and can be caused by aging, noise exposure, head trauma, and certain medical conditions.

Mixed Hearing Loss

A combination of conductive and sensorineural hearing loss, involving both the outer or middle ear and the inner ear or auditory nerve.

Due to losing one of my old CIC hearing aids on a plane, I had to get new hearing aids within a one week visit to the UK. Hear Pure had provided my first aids and I requested the replacements from them urgently. They were absolutely amazing! I had impressions for the new aids, the new aids ordered, delivered, two hearing tests done and a good syringing and check of both ears in 5 days. The Hear Pure management and audiology teams worked seamlessly over and beyond any normal client service standard to delivery my new aids. My heartfelt thanks to the Hear Pure team. Definitely a customer for life!!
